  1. That Jīva (soul), who is in the fourth to twelfth Guṇasthānas (stages of spiritual development).
avirataguṇasthāne tadyogyāśubhaleśyāpariṇato jaghanyāntarātmā, kṣīṇakaṣāyaguṇasthāne punarutkṛṣṭaḥ, aviratakṣīṇakaṣāyayorinadhye madhyamaḥ.

  1. A synonym of Jīva (soul);

the embodied soul; for it remains amidst (antaḥ) the body, but it is not identical with it.

'aṃtarappā'... antaḥmadhyarūpa ātmā, na śarirarūpa ityantarātmeti.
