Jai Jinendra,

Please read the entire email for information on Skype Session for L6, Pathshala day cleanup policy, Beginners Swadhyay class (for adults) and Yearly Calendar,

The holiday season is a time to share karuna, compassion, with everyone! For this reason, YJA is hosting a Clothing Drive from Dec. 1st to Jan. 15th to benefit Big Brother, Big Sister– an organization that gives back to children in Boston that grow up in under-privileged households.

Please bring your new and gently used winter clothing items (the organization does not accept Indian wear) to the JCGB Sangh.

We will be having a collection bin in the main foyer of the temple. Please feel free to contact YJA at with questions and concerns

We request all parents and kids to be present 10 min. earlier and we will start prayers at sharp 10:00

We will gather in the Temple for prayers followed by meditation and announcements.

The pathshala is a volunteer run organization, and parents are expected to volunteer at least twice every year on Pathshala days.

Our Food Coordinators are finding it very challenging to find the volunteers for clean up till the end, so please come forward and help. This would be your way to give back to the community!

Responsibilities of Volunteers:
Help set up, serve lunch, cleaning dishes, wipe dishes, put all the silverware in appropriate places and take care of any leftover food (you may divide among all the volunteers).

Volunteers for the month of December are: Level 1 Parents

For some reason if you are unable to volunteer, Please find a substitute.   Keeping our busy Level 6 children in mind, Yogenbhai has kindly agreed to teach through Skype sessions to save their time. These sessions will be on every second Sunday of the month. Email to follow from Yogenbhai.

I am very excited to announce that we are starting an Adult Beginner Swadhyay class.

The meaning of the word Swadhyay is to know more about yourself or self-study. It helps us to improve ourselves in so many ways.

We have noticed that while children are in pathshala classroom, the parents usually stay around the temple, as many of you come from far and it makes sense to wait here.

Arti Mehta, who has been a past JCGB teacher, and president, has graciously offered to start a beginners swadhyay class for adults from 10:30 to 11:30. I hope you all can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and participate in this swadhyay class.

This learning will have manifold benefits for the parents.

  • You will be able to help your child in the homework.
  • Better use of your time
  • For those who have learned at a young age will have chance to brush up the knowledge
  • It will cover basic Jain principles that you can apply in your daily lives

The class will include topics from, up to pathshala level 4 curriculum and then move on to other topics.

Bringing children to pathshala will now have double the benefits, children learn and parents learn as well.

We encourage and request everyone to try to attend.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

Thank you

Prity Turkhia,
Pathshala Director

Jyotsna Jain
Pathshala Coordinator
