Dear friends,
The monsoons are here! They have brought with them a plethora of Jain seers and scholars to Bombay, where they will spend the four months of the rainy season. For Jains, the monsoon season is synonymous with Paryushana Parva, the Jain festival of prayer, solitude and meditation.
The Mumbai Jain Yuvak Sangh organises its annual Paryushan Vyakhyan Mala, where it has been presenting excellent speakers for the past 83 years! Having had the honour of speaking at the Vyakhyan Mala myself, I can attest to the quality of speakers as well as the audience.
This Vyakhyan Mala is a wonderful opportunity to observe Jainism, India and Indianness in a new light.
