On Sunday 6th July 2008, Jain Vishva Bharati London (JVB) celebrated “Pragya Divas”,89th birthday of His Holiness Acharya Mahapragya at its London centre in Cricklewood, Northwest London. The programme started at about 10:45am with the recitation of Namaskar Mahamantraby Respected Samanijis.

This auspicious programme consisted of a variety of items. JVB gyanshalastudents performed a beautiful prayer “Arham Arham ki VandanaFale”.Shree Balvantji Maru, President of JVB, welcomed the guests and audience. On this pious occasion, Shree Pravinbhai Mehta announced JVB’s new executive and working committee with its new format. Ms Archana Maru, co-ordinator of JVB gyanshala gave details about its activities and programme whereas Smt Artiji Jain, co-ordinator of Jainism course urged everyone to enrol for this correspondence course.

One of the highlights of the programme was a “Journey through Mahapragya Airlines”, performed by children and youngsters, which emphasised the virtues of Preksha Meditation and simultaneously re-visited the life of H.H. Acharya Mahapragya. The audience showed their appreciation of the subtle message of the skit by an ovation of “OmArham” as well as bursts of spontaneous laughter. Shree Dineshbhai Shah inspired the audience to support the centre as well as learn from the reservoir of knowledge possessed by the samanijis. Shree Saggarbhai Malde talked about his own experience of Arhat Vandanaas a daily prayer and Smt Sayerji Chorariya was then requested to officially launch the‘Arhat Vandana’book. Thereafter, Shree Saggarbhai Malde and Ms Alpaben Shah performed a wonderful musical performance of Arhat Vandanain their melodious voice.

The audience was enlightened by a very touching and powerful discourse on “How to awaken intuition power?” by Samani Prasanna Pragyaji. Ms. Danila and Ms. Luchana who had come from Italy joined the celebrations and talked about Preksha Meditation and their centre in Italy. Dr. Peter Flugel from the Centre of Jain Studies, SOAS, University of London appreciated the progress made by Jain Vishva Bharati as an organisation in India as well as abroad as a result of the vision and leadership of late Gurudev Tulsi and His Holiness Acharya Mahapragya.

This year JVB held an initial Preksha Meditation Training course. Ten Participants, who successfully completed the course, were awarded the certificates. Shree Harshadbhai Sanghrajka shared his experience of Preksha Meditation training course and inspired others to do this course to lead a healthy and peaceful life. He expressed his gratitude to H.H. Acharya Mahapragyaji for sending Samanijis to London and thanked the Samanijis for enlightening the Jains as well as non-Jains alike.

On this unique occasion, Shree Dineshbhai and Smt Meenaben Shah formally launched a flyer about JVB London. Smt Pushpaji Jain, President of Jain Association, expressed her feelings towards Acharya Mahapragyaji in the form of a poem, which she composed herself. A beautiful song sung by Smt Rajveeben Punatar and Shree Kaushikbhai Khajuria in their amazing voice concluded the programme and Shree Punitbhai Haria ably assisted them on the tabla.

On this auspicious day all those who took part in joint Mahaveer Janma Kalyanak Celebration on behalf of JVB and as well as on Pragya Divas were awarded with a certificate and presented with a story book of Jain heritage, ‘Truth of Present’ as a token of appreciation.

About 200 people attended this successful event. Shree Manickji Chorariya, Hon Secretary of JVB thanked everyone including the volunteers. The event was concluded with the recitation of mangal pathby respected Samaniji.This was followed by refreshments.
