Workshop on Role of Yoga & Naturopathy in Geriatrics

The Central council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (ccryn) had organised a national workshop on the role of Yoga & Naturopathy in geriatric care from 11th to 13 December 2008 in the auditorium of the central council in New Delhi.

The conference was inaugurated by Mrs. S. Jalaje, secretary Ayush, Ministry of health and family welfare, Govt. of India. The eminent guests Swami Mangaltheetham, Dr. Rames C. Verma, Dr. K. G. Bhatt, Swami Dharmananda, Dr. B. B. Goyal, Dr. Chidanandmurthi, Yogi B. Lal were on the dias along with secretary and Asstt. Secretary. The speakers emphasized the need of such a workshop to give guideline to elders for better living through Yoga and Naturopathy.

Many yoga experts and naturopaths in three sessions every day were covering different topics like:

  • Care while handling age related ailments,
  • yoga and menopausal syndrome,
  • Physiological changes while aging and therewith related health problems,
  • Geriatric care in yoga treatises,
  • Rheumatic and immunological aspects
  • Integrated approach of yoga towards senior citizens,
  • Pranayama for neurological disorders,
  • Diet and nutritional care for geriatrics,
  • Aging gracefully through Preksha Meditation,
  • Role of Hydrotherapy in geriatrics.

Numerous participants attended the well-organised conference.
