Akshay Tritiya Celebrated at Dhupguri, West Bengal

On the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, celebration of a varshitap (completion of year long alternate day complete fasting by taking cane juice) was organised by Dhupguri Terapanthi Sabha in the pious presence of Samani Nirdeshika Malay Pragya ji, wherein Smt. Kanchan Devi Chhajed wife of Shri Jaychand ji Chhajed’s varshitap was completed. The Programme started by paying homage to with Lord Rishabha, the first of the Jain Tirthankaras. After the Mangalacharan song by the ladies of the local Mahila Mandal and family members of Smt. Kanchan Devi Chhajed, Samani Nirdeshika Malay Pragya ji, in her spiritural speech expressed the importance of Akshay Tritiya that - all religion have importance of this day. Akshay Tritiya is also known as ‘Aakha teej’. Aakha means complete. This is a very auspicious day observed in the whole of India. On this day the start of any propitious work is successfully completed.The connection of Akshay Tritiya is mainly with Lord Rishabha, Shreyanskumar - his worldly grandson and Ikshu (sugarcane).We have to take inspiration from all three of them. Lord Rishabha led the life of completeness. When he was in worldly life, he taught people the art of doing work, agriculture, profession, He introduced many new things and cultures in the society. “Shreyans” means who leads us to success. Our life should have sweetness like cane juice. Samaniji elaborated the importance of fasting and expressed good wishes for the noble way of year long fasting undertaken by the sister.

On the occasion Samani Vinamra Pragya ji gave brief introduction of Lord Rishab’s life. She told the importance of Akshay Tritiya through the medium of a poem. Shri Madan ji Sancheti, president of Siliguri Terapanthi Sabha expressed his vies on the occasion and paid gratitude for the noble effort of the sister. Shri Pradeep Chhajed and Smt. Sharda Chhajed also congratulated Tapaavi sister in ceremony. Smt. Vimala Devi, Kamla Devi, Nirmala Devi. Pramila Devi, Preksha, Rekha, Madhu also presented their feelinges through song. Smt. Saroj Devi Chhajed compered the programme successfully. Presence of more than 300 layfollowers including those of the nearby areas in programme made the programme praiseworthy. The local committee thanked Samaniji for coming to Dhupguri for this programme. Sri Bhikamchand Pugalia, general secretary of JVB also played an important role in making the programme a success.
