From Allahabad onwards the arrangements of the journey were being nicely looked after by Kolkata Terapanthi Sabha under the direction of president Sri Karan Singh Nahata. Sri Mahal Chand Bhansali, former president and Present trustee of Kokata Sabha is the convenor of the jouney. Sadhvishri Kanakshriji and her group of nuns has undertaken vigorous task of on foot journey spreading the message and teachings of Lord Mahavira and the Terapanth Sect of jains all through the route undertaken by her particularly to the masses residing in rural India. They had a seven days stay at pious jain mountain place of Shikharji, spreading spiritual colours. Enroute at Benaras Maryada Mahotsav was celebrated with a stay of 7 days. At Durgapur also there was a stay of 3 days wherein various spiritual programmes were undertaken. Sri Manot said -“we are eagerly waiting for Sadhvisriji to reach Mahasabha Bhawan at Kolkata after a long span of about 50 years.”
Sadhvi Kanakshriji addressing the large gathering of lay followers said “Today we are remembering Lord Bardhman (Mahāvīra) in Bardhman. We are listening to his teachings and taking vow to move on the path shown by him. In the present day context the significance of Lord Mahāvīra has increased, when the whole world is affected by terrorism, violence, etc. The Principles of Non-violence, compassion for every creature of the universe, equanimity, are the pillars strengthening the stage for peaceful co-existence of everyone thereby providing solution to the hot problem. If we cannot follow the path of Mahāvīra or if Mahāvīra cannot move with us then there is no utility of celebrating the Mahāvīra jayanti. The birthday of tirthankar is celebrated, as it provides mental, physical and emotional health and removes the sickness of the mankind. Presently the politicians are playing principle less politics. They forget the Nation. When Lord Mahāvīra came to this earth 2608 years ago, there were many ill traditions prevailing in the society. He tried to remove them one by one. He gave the message of peace and non-possessiveness. He fought against the caste system, he was the first to fight against slave system and encouraged the women folk to come forward and have equal rights and justice. The basic feature of Lord Mahāvīra's Sadhana was equanimity. He perceived that the root cause of all sorrow is man's own actions, which are due to the influence of attachment and aversion (Rāga-Dveśa). Equanimity can be achieved only by remaining aloof from Rāga-Dveśa. From the Mahāvīra Jayanti we must encourage ourselves to follow the path of non violence, equality, (Anekantwad) have multifarious angles for perceiving a thing so that disputes are avoided, if one follows these principles given by Lord Mahāvīra there shall be no problem of tension and one can reach the state of equanimity“.
Sadhvi Kanakshriji further said “We should find out the root causes of sorrow and unrest and must try to remove them by root. We can get rid of them if we follow the path of meditation, correct breathing, time management to avoid skirmish in the present day’s blind race. Every body must set priorities for life and should move accordingly. Capitalism, terrorism, castism, regionalism, linguistic separations etc are the entire root causes of the present day problem. These should be eliminated by root. On this auspicious day we should not simply celebrate, but should take vow to live our life in the Mahavira way. Acharya Mahapragya ji always lays stress in his discourse to understand Mahavir and his philosophy in holistic approach which can prove a boon in solving the current economic, environmental and ethical crisis of the world”.
At the end special guests were honoured by presenting literature as momento by the Bardhmaan Terapanthi Sabha.
