General Convention Details
It is with great excitement we invite you to 15th Biennial JAINA Convention from Thursday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 5th, 2009.
The Convention will now be held at the Jain Center of Southern California (Los Angeles Jain Temple)
The convention site has been moved from Anahiem Convention Center to Jain Center keeping in mind the current financial situations and to save costs. As a result we have decided to pass a lot of the cost savings back to each participant in form of reduced Registration fees. The fee reduction is as much as 35%!! Early Bird Registration fees for adults has been reduced from $150 to $100 per person. Please look at the Registration General Information page to have a look at the exciting new changes to the fee structire.
Our new venue Jain Center of Southern California is one of the largest Jain Centers outside of India. It boasts a newly built 62,000 sq.ft. Cultural Complex including an auditorium with a capacity for 1000 people and second floor with a capacity for additional 1000 people and a 13,000 sq. ft. temple. Additionally, we are renting 15,000 sq.ft. of space at our convention hotel - Crowne Plaza giving us a total of 90,000 sq. ft. of space. Compared to 170,000 sq. ft. of space at Anaheim Convention Centre that was booked based on 3000+ attendees before the economic downturn - we believe that our new venue will provide abundant space for all of our activities with an added benefit of being under the same roof as 100 year old Wooden Temple - a replica of Palitana temple.
We want to emphasize that while changes are being made to the venue and the registration fee is reduced for this convention - there are no changes being made to the content of the convention. All Jain21 (JNF) and Youth programs will still be held at Convention Hotels.
The theme for the 2009 convention is "Ecology - The Jain Way". Attend to educate ourselves about how timeless principles of Jain Religion reflect Ecology that has become the focus of everything that we do today!
