Participants arrived in the afternoon on Saturday and took part in a range of activities including meditation, yoga, story making, mehendi, rangoli, games, dance, arts and craft. Many of the participants were not Jain so there was an opportunity for them to learn some of the basics about Jainism and ask questions; it was a good chance for them to find out more about their Jain friends.
The children got to meet the respected Samanijisand learn about their lifestyles. With the kind assistance of volunteer parents, students cooked meals and served the Samanijis.
Fifteen participants stayed the night and then woke up early for some meditation. The camp was finished with a presentation to parents about the work of the Gyanshala through a skit from students themselves. The Samanijis gave an interesting talk to both parents and children on the importance of instilling good values in the younger generation. Camp participants then shared their experiences and confirmed that it was a fun, valuable experience and insight into the life of the Samanijis.
