Samanijis at Jain Centre of Leicester on the Occasion of Bhagavan Parshvanath Janma Kalyanak
On the occasion of Bhagavan Parshvanath Janma Kalyanak, from December 29, 2010 to January 1, 2011, Samani Prasanna Pragya and Samani Rohit Pragya were invited by the Jain community of Leicester. On December 29, Smita Shah, the president of Jain centre of Leicester, welcomed both the Samanijis. Samani Prasanna Pragya spoke on ‘’Samayik” in simple language with interesting illustrations. On December 30, the Programme of Pooja was led by Jayeshbhai. He explained about 108 Parshvanath Bhagavan and Samaniji spoke on ‘’Importance of Uvasaggahar stotra” while explaining when and how the stotra was composed. In evening programme, Samani Rohit Pragya spoke on “Significance of Meditation” and introduced the Preksha Meditation to audience. On December 31, Samaniji talked on ‘’Are you Non-violent” and inspired people to apply non-violence in day to day life. That talk was followed by the practical the session of Preksha Meditation.
On January 1, Samani Prasanna Pragya taught the correct pronunciation and meaning of Uvasaggahar stotra. She encouraged audience to recite the mantra with contemplating on the meaning of each and every word. Simultaneously Samani Rohit Pragya conducted the session with Pathshala children and teachers. She taught the meaning of Logassa and discussed the main principles of Jainism - Ahimsa, Aparigraha and Anekanta. Samaniji also taught the exercises and meditation to increase concentration and memory power. Jain community of Leicester paid gratitude towards Samaniji and requested them to come frequently to enlighten them with the knowledge of Jainism and Preksha Meditation. During their stay in Leicester Samanijis visited many houses. Many people came individually for consultation and found the solution of problems related to their health and life. The whole Jain community took the maximum religious and spiritual benefit from both the Samanijis by finding the answers of many questions, by learning the techniques of meditation, Jain values, practical meaning of religion etc.
On Saturday evening, Samanijis were invited by CICD (Centre of Indian Cultural Dance) in their annual event, held at Jain Center. That event was attended by Jain as well as Hindu community. Mrs. Shashi Mehta, the trustee of the center welcomed both the Samanijis. On that occasion children presented Kathak dance. Samani Prasanna Pragya spoke how an art of Indian Kathak dance is also related to spirituality. She presented the views on the importance of Indian culture and admired the efforts of the teachers of the Art School. On the occasion of New Year, conveying the message of Acharya Mahashramanji to whole society, Samaniji said - ‘’to develop an integrated personality,one should do efforts for four kinds of development: Material, Economical, Moral and Spiritual.’’ Organisers of the programme and audience felt privilege to have Samanijis on that special occasion. Shashi Mehta, on behalf of the centre paid gratitude towards Samanijis for accepting their request and providing auspicious presence in the cultural event.
