The Maryada Mahotsava holds an important place in the organisation of Terapantha Sangha. It is a unique festival in the religious traditions of the world, and has been celebrated without a break for more than one hundred and forty years.
Acharya Bhikshu formulated strict Maryadas (conventions) with the consent of all the ascetics for the proper observance of the monastic conduct, and enacted a complete constitution for the order. The Maryada Mahotsava commemorates this event on the seventh day of the bright half of the lunar month of Magh, according to the Indian calendar.
- All Sadhus and Sadhvis take oath to abide by the 'Maryada Patra' written by Acharya Shri Bhikshu.
- The present Acharya directs all singhadas to head to different places across the country for their chaturmas yatra.
If possible, all must attend the event which gives us an inspiration to stay by our principles and lead a disciplined life.
3 days Maryada Mahotsava 2011 starts on 8th February.
