The earliest bronze sculptures of a Tirthankara shows the Jina standing in kāyotsarga posture while the earliest stone images, found on Āyāgapaṭṭas from c. 2nd century CE, depicts the Jina sitting in padmāsana posture with the gesture of dhyāna mudrā.
