According to Digambara tradition Shyama is the Yaksha of the 8th Tirthankara Chandraprabha; his female companion is Yakshini Jwalamalini. In Shvetambara tradition the name of the Yaksha attending Chandraprabha is Vijaya.- Shyama has a third eye on his forehead.
- He carries an axe and a fruit in his hands and is depictied with vara mudhra.
- He is depicted seated variably either on a piegeon or a parrot.
