Equality And Diversity Office: SOAS - University of London
For the 4th year in a row, SOAS, University of London will be hosting the COEXIST Interfaith Music Festival in its Brunei Gallery all day (10am - 9pm) on Monday, 30 March 2015. Over 20 artists and groups from a variety of faith and interfaith backgrounds are expected to share their music and dance, and some top-notch speakers will come together for an inspiring panel talk on music and conflict resolution. The festival will be accompanied by an Interfaith Fair in the foyer of the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, where numerous representatives of faith and interfaith organisations and education institutions will showcase their work, moreover the fair will also feature an interactive area allowing children to find out more about various religions and their music.
The COEXIST Interfaith Music Festival has been taking place annually at SOAS since 2012 to promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue, and festival founder and former SOAS BA Politics student Anja Fahlenkamp has been recognized for her engagement with several awards, including the SOAS Director's Prize 2013. COEXIST Interfaith Music Festival is currently also teaming up with the Berlin Senate to organise a major-scale music festival in Berlin, Germany in summer 2015, as the first of many more festivals to be planned in various international locations.
The COEXIST Interfaith Music Festival is currently still looking for artists from various faith and interfaith backgrounds who wish to perform their music and/or dance at the upcoming festival at SOAS on 30 March 2015. Organisations and institutions can also still register to host a stall at the Interfaith Fair. If you want to find out how to get involved, please visit www.coexistinterfaith.org for more information or get in touch directly at [email protected].
The festival welcomes everyone, whether SOAS in- or outsider, to attend throughout the day and bring along their friends, family and community.
