Jaipur, 20.10.2015

The Pink-city lost a muti-dimensional personality - Dr. Moolchand Sethia, who was a renowned writer, philosopher, teacher and social worker. He devoted his life for the service of humanity by teaching his students not only the text but also the 'sanskar' and the real sense of the word and principles. He was a profound speaker and well known writer of Hindi,  Rajasthani, and Urdu literature. He had studied the Jain Aagams as well as Vedas and Upanishad, thereby assimilating the spiritual and philosophical concepts.

Dr Sethia died after brief illness on 20th October at the age of 87 years and the entire world of literature drowned in utter sorrow. Dr. Sethia taught for many years starting from BITS, Pilani and retiring as Associate Professor-Hindi Deptt from University of Rajasthan. Many of his books have been published and he is known to have broadcast more than a hundred literacy talks on All India Radio and Doordarshan. He had close relation with stalwarts of Hindi Literature like Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Harivansh Rai Bacchan, Agyeya, Mahadevi  Varma, Jainendra Kumar, Kanhaiya Lal Sethia and so on. Dr. Sethia rendered unforgettable service to “Terapanth Sect” of the Jain religion as a well known spokesman of the “Anuvrat Andolan”. The demise of a person who accepted dozens of awards with the sense of his growing social responsibilities, has left a vaccum impossible to be filled.

Dr. Sethia has left behind a family imbued with noble traits. His son Kamal Sethia is the chairman of Vardhman Group and a well known Philanthropist. Under the guidance of Mr. Kamal Sethia, Vardhman Group has always followed the principles and virtues of Dr. Moolchand Sethia. On 22nd October 2015, A condolence meeting was held in his memory in the Mahaveer School auditorium in C-Scheme. The highlights of program were that Shri Pannalal Pugliya presented the blessings of Acharya Tulsi and Acharya Mahapragya in “ Kaluyashovilas” and “Yashovilas”. Shri Sampat Gandhi read out a brief Life-sketch of Dr. Sethia. Shri Daulat Daga read out the messages of Acharya Shri Mahashraman, Ramesh Muni and the Head Sadhvis Shri Ji. The messages sent by Shri Surendra Jain, chairman of the “Anuvrat Mahasamiti” and Mahendra Jain, Editor of the “Anuvrat Monthly” along with some forty other condolence messages were read out. Great Grand Daughter of Shri Sethia, Aditi, presented a tribute, Shri Pannalal Baid performed a “Loggspath” and his Grandson Vinay Sethia thanked all those who attended the condolence meeting.
