In an effort to towards fortifying our future, we, as Jains and Jain organizations, must collectively share a unified vision of Jainism. Over the past three years, JAINA’s Long Range Planning Committee, together with Jain leaders has developed a vision for the future of Jainism in North America. This invitation speaks to taking active steps towards ensuring a vibrant future for our community.
Dipak Jain, Dean of Kellogg School of Management, invited Jain leaders from across USA and Canada to a historic first summit to discuss the future of Jainism in North America in April 2005 at the Kellogg School of Business in Chicago. This landmark first meeting was followed up a year later by a second meeting that included over 65 leaders from JAINA and Jain Centers across the US and Canada. Led by Dipak Jain and Prem Jain, these conferences introduced concepts of management and organization that can be applied to improving the performance and involvement of our Jain community’s leaders.
To continue these powerful efforts, we would like to cordially invite you to attend the regional West Coast Jain Leadership Summit on Saturday, May 5th, 2007. The purpose of this conference is for us to:
1) Share a common vision and goals for Jainism’s future;
2) Learn new skills that are unique to leading Jain organizations;
3) Expand our leadership and communication skills; 4) Review topics covered in previous conferences; and
5) Meet and exchange ideas.
At this Summit, we will use interactive discussions and workshops to address four critical areas that the Jain leadership community faces. These specific areas are aligned with Vision 20/20 (JAINA's Long Range Vision):
1. Universalization of Jain Practices at Jain Centers in North America
2. Jain Community Concerns and Challenges
3. Youth Issues
4. Policies: Drafting, Food in School, & More
