7th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PEACE AND NONVIOLENT ACTION
(7th ICPNA), Jaipur, November 10 to 14, 2008
PART I: November 10-12
International Dialogue on Exploring a New Model of Nonviolent Lifestyle for Universal Peace and Sustainability
7th ICPNA - Announcement of a Workshop on:
- Integrating Modern Science, Religions and Spirituality for Enhancing Peace and Well Being: A Challenge of 21st Century
Today’s dominant world views and life-styles are conditioned largely by advances in science and technology. However, in recent years serious doubts have been expressed about the unlimited progress of materialistic science because its indiscrete applications by the associated capitalistic socio-economic systems encourage the highly consumptive, ego-centric life-styles inflicting huge environmental damage. Furthermore, the apparent disharmony between science, religions and spirituality on vital issues of personal and social interests is instrumental in the rapid decline of ethical values, enhanced behavioral problems, socio-economic tensions and violence.
Therefore, a great challenge before humanity in the 21st century is to integrate the religious, spiritual and scientific knowledge into a generally acceptable holistic world-view, providing a sound basis for an ethical, nonviolent and eco-friendly way of life, necessary for enhancing peace and maximizing social and personal well-being.
It is expected that advances in our understanding of physics, biology, neurosciences, economics, social and management sciences with increasing interest in studies of consciousness and spirituality will enable us to meet this challenge.
A workshop to discuss various aspects of such an endeavor and to recommend an action plan is being organized within the framework of 7th ICPNA. For details and registration form, please visit our website www.anuvibha.in. The workshop will consist of reviews presenting different view-points and a panel discussion. Those interested in presenting papers are requested to submit abstracts (about 100 words) by 20th October to the convener. If you are unable to attend, you are requested to send a brief summary of your views, comments or suggestions.
