Man performs many different kinds of tasks. While one is independent in doing one's work, no one is totally independent in this world. When there is good motivation work can be done well. If, however, the instrumental causes are not appropriate, then there will be obstacles in one's work.

There are five types of instrumental causes found in the Bhagwati Sutra: Dravya karan (causes related to substance), kshetra karan (causes related to place), kaal karan (causes related to time), bhaav karan (causes related to emotions), bhav karan (causes related to existence)

Substance, space, time, emotions and existence: These are the five instruments. Among these five, time is an important auxiliary factor. Actions and time are greatly intertwined. The two cannot be separated from each other. How should we then utilise our time? The day is 24 hours long. The very first thing that we must do before we get to work is lay down a daily routine. A person who does not make right use of a daily timetable wastes most of his time. For success it is necessary that each and every second be utilised. Those who have utilised each second of their lives have gone on to become great people. For that, it is necessary to fix a daily routine from the time of waking till the moment of falling asleep. There should be a proper management of waking and sleeping hours.

The next question is what should be the time to wake up? And what should be the time to go to sleep? Once, a boy was accustomed to waking up at eight every morning. One day, his mother said, "Son, now wake up. Can't you see that the sun has risen?" The boy said, "Mother! Why do you compare me with the sun? The sun sets early every evening. But I sleep at one in the morning. How can you compare me with the sun?" True, if someone sleeps so late at night, how can he wake up by four? If a person wants a successful, pleasant and peaceful life, it is necessary that he should rise at brahma muhurt, which is around four or five in the morning. On the other hand, a person should ideally go to sleep around 10 at night. A person, who manages his routine, the time of waking and sleeping, will find his days and nights flow pleasantly. Life as a whole becomes better and one is able to fully concentrate on his or her work.
