Our ObjectivesJains UK was established in 2008 with the aim of uniting the whole Jain community in the UK. It is an umbrella organisation made up of the many Jain organisations in the UK that are working actively to promote Jainism and the teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir.
In 2008, through Jains UK, Jains throughout London and the UK joined forces to celebrate the birth of Bhagwan Mahavir with an event at Harrow Leisure Centre, entitled JAINS UK - 'Mahavir Janma Kalyanak Celebrations'.
That historical event was a first step towards the whole UK Jain community working together to promote Jainism and Mahavir’s teachings with a strong and united voice. The successful celebration, attended by over 1,600 people ensured the entire community, including our young people, can come together once a year to celebrate this ‘special’ day and enjoy it!
We believe that the celebration of Bhagwan Mahavir’s birthday is a fantastic way for all UK Jains to come together and promote his unique teachings. This in turn, will create an invaluable opportunity for Jains of all ages in the UK to start working together in harmony and understand each other’s point of view and traditions, instilling a greater sense of pride and unity in the whole community.
