Foundation Day and Inaugural of
21st All India Summer School on
Prakrit Language & Literature held in
Bhogilal Leherchand Institute of Indology, Delhi
The Inaugural Function of the 21st All India Summer School on Prakrit Language & Literature and Foundation Day of the Institute were held on 10th May 2009 at 10.30 A.M.
The function coincided with the Acharya Hemachandrasuri Lecture Series No. 5, delivered by Prof. Mukul Raj Mehta of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. The Chief Guest of this Function was Hon. Mr. Justice Tarun Chatterjee, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi and presided over by Prof. Radhavallabh Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi.
The programme started with the chanting of Navakar Mahamantra followed by Lighting of the lamps and garlanding to the statue of Late Bhogilal Leherchand, in whose memory this Institute was founded by Shri Paratapbhai Bhogilal.
Shri N. P. Jain, Vice-Chairman, BLII, welcomed the Guests of Honour and the audience.
Shri Raj Kumar Jain, President of BLII and Secretary General of the Shree Atma Vallabh Smarak Shikshan Nidhi, gave a brief account about the Smarak, BLII and the Senior Secondary School located within the Vijay Vallabh Smarak Complex.
Dr. J. B. Shah, Vice-Chairman of the Institute and Director of L. D. Institute of Indology, Ahmedabad, gave a summary of the activities of BLII for the glorious 25 years, particularly about the past 20 years of Summer Schools also.
Prof. Mukul Raj Mehta, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, delivered the Fifth Acharya Hemachandrasuri Lecture Series, which was widely appreciated by the audience patiently.
The programme continued with the address of the Chief Guest, Hon. Mr. Justice Tarun Chatterjee, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, which was followed by the Presidential Address by Prof. Radhavallabh Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi.
Gp. Capt. Vimal Kumar Jain, Dy. Chairman, BLII, proposed vote of thanks to the participants, dignitaries and audiences. The function was attended by more than 175 audiences consisting of 52 participants from all over India, scholars and dignitaries etc. The invocation of Goddess Saraswati by Mrs. Ruby Jain was melodies. This was followed by Lunch hosted by the Smarak.
Dr. Balaji Ganorkar, Director of the Institute conducted the programme.
