This painting depicts the course of the constellations (Nakshatras) in the celestial sphere. The ecliptic area within which the constellations are placed is a visualization of human figure. The Sun and Moon are on either side of the face of the cosmic figure, appearing like his earrings. Twenty-seven constellations identifiable by their shapes are painted in the same sequence, as they appear in the sky. Mount Meru is in the Centre.
