The protest entered its 12th day, and all the efforts made by district officials to request Jain Muni to call off the protest have gone in vain. Spotting the police force on Friday morning, supporters of Jain Muni locked the main gate of Digambar Jain Inter College, which is the venue for the protest. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) ordered the police force to break the lock and enter the college premises.
The district authorities forcefully removed the speaker and mike from the demonstration site in the Digambar Jain Inter College. Thereafter, the water and electricity connection was withdrawn, and an effort to dislodge the tent of the Jain Muni was made. Two students were rounded up by the police team and an effort was made to remove females performing religious activities on the main stage.
Several rounds of minor altercations were witnessed between the police force and supporters of Jain Muni. The demonstration site has been transformed into a police fortress, In addition to the police, Rapid Action Force team too has been stationed there.
Miffed by the state government move, Jain Muni said, “If the CM wants she can issue orders to shoot me, but I will not withdraw the protest.” Muni asserted that his retention or the arrest of his supporters was not the solution to the problem. “Our struggle will continue till the time state government passes order to stop the construction of modern slaughter houses,” he added.
