Sarotra Jain Temple (Bhāvanadhvaja Jinālaya)
The Bhāvanadhvaja Jinālaya is a Jain temple at the ancient site of Sarotra in Banaskantha district of Gujarat. The temple is built of white marble except for the spire over the sanctuary built of brick. The principal shrine stands in a courtyard and is surrounded by a corridor of 52 small shrines. Unfortunately the temple is desecrated and damaged, so none of the images from these shrines survive.
The temple faces north and the front half of the court is composed of roofed lintels connecting the front mandapa with the pillars of the corridor. This is a view of the main temple shrine, seen from where the corridor on the east side has been destroyed. The shikara is largely obscured by vegetation.
