Memorial Day Weekend at Los Angeles

You are invited to "JAINA Teachers' National Conference 2012 Los Angeles". The conference will be during the Memorial Day Week-end, May 26, 27, 28, 2012 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Friday is travel day.). We encourage everybody to arrive on Friday afternoon.
The conference is hosted by Jain Center of Southern California (Los Angeles - JCSC). All the participants will be staying with the host family of JCSC in homes with Pathshala teachers and volunteers for the duration of the conference and meals will be provided by the Jain Center. This arrangement will give each participants opportunity to share their experience and ideas with their peers.

Registration fee for the conference for each person is
- $25 who does not need transportation to and from airport to Jain Center.
- $50 who needs transportation to and from airport to Jain Center.
Registration will open in January 2012. Details of registration and programs will be provided at that time.
Participants have the option to make their own lodging arrangement if they desire so. Jain Center will provide list of hotels nearby. However we encourage everyone to stay with host family.
Participants will be responsible for their own Inter-city transportation like visiting friends, relatives, and sightseeing places.
The primary objective of the conference is to have group discussions on Pathshala Education material, Teaching methodology, and tracking system. We will avoid lectures and speeches. Participants will be divided in to groups based on their interest and expertise. We will have few sessions with all the participants as one group.
Following is preliminary outline of the agenda and program:
- Pathashala Curriculum by Age Group (5-9) (10-12) (13-15) (16 and older)
- Current status of Education Material and progress report.
- Teaching method presentations (2 or 3)
- JAINA syllabus books review to create an intermediate level book (Between "First Step in Jainism" and "Book 302 Level3")
- Sutra, Stavan, and Vidhi Books
- Language Curriculum
- National Exam
- Pathshala Coordinators' Group Discussion
- Review of Resources (Web, Books etc)
We encourage all the Jain Centers to promote their teachers and give incentives to participate in the conference such as sponsoring air fare for the attending teachers regardless of their financial abilities.
