Daler Mehndi who has been singing and composing music since he was 6 years old recently performed at Acharya Mahashraman Amrit Mahotsav in Jodhpur.
He also met the Jain Guru ‘Aacharya Shri Mahashraman Ji Muni’, and they both had prolific discussions concerning world peace. Mehndi expressed that he is proud of his country India where Hindus, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Buddhists and many other different faith followers walk together!
On the birthday of fifth Sikh Guru ‘Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji’, the King of Bhangra Daler Mehndi also wished his fans a very Happy Gurupurab.
“Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji was a poet of exceptional merit and a musician par excellence. Not only he compiled & composed the ‘Bani’, he preached love and universal brotherhood. He gave mankind with two of its greatest Gifts - Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Golden Temple.
When he established the Golden Temple in midst of the Amrit Sarovar at Amritsar, he had its foundation stone laid by a Muslim Saint Sant Hazrat Mian Mir of Laohore. The temple was designed with doors on all four sides which meant that all the castes had equal access to the holy place.
When He compiled the compositions of the first four Gurus in a single volume, he included compositions of various Hindus and Muslims Saints displaying the universal spirit!”
The phenomenal performer sees his music as an interfaith celebration. “Music is a common thread among religions as it provides an opportunity for different religious groups to meet and deepen interfaith co-existence.” quoted Mehndi.
