Statement by the JAINA President Dr. Sushil Jain on Gurudwara Shooting in
Oak Creek Wisconsin
Sunday 5th August 2012 -- Jain Community in North America (JAINA) is deeply saddened to learn of the shooting that tragically took seven lives and injured few lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At this difficult time, the Sikh community of Oak Creek must know that the North American Jains have them in our thoughts and prayers, and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who were killed and wounded.
JAINA condemns and rejects the violent terrorist actions that killed and injured innocent people of the Sikh faith, and Jainism holds that the taking of a single life is the equivalent of the killing of all humanity. Nothing can ever justify terrorism and murder.
These acts are in total contradiction with the foundations of Jain religion,” said Dr. Sushil Jain, President of the Federation of Jain Associations in North America.
Our Jain community in Wisconsin will provide whatever support is necessary to Gurudwara leaders and government officials who are responding to this tragic shooting and moving forward with an investigation. As we mourn this loss which took place at a house of worship, we are reminded how much our community has been enriched by Sikhs as friends from home land, and now how we are a part of our broader American family.
