The Golden Book of Tagore

Published: 15.10.2012

A Homage to Rabindranath Tagore

From India and the World in Celebration of his Seventieth Birthday

Acting on the suggestion made by Romain Rolland, The Golden Book of Tagore was brought out by Ramananda Chatterji, the doyen of Indian journalists in 1931. It was a unique tribute paid to one who was among the world's greatest, on his seventieth birthday by the savants, poets, musicians, thinkers, philosophers, novelists and men of letters from all corners of the world. Such a spontaneous flow of respect and gratitude is seldom encountered. It is also a human document illustrating how much Tagore was valued by intellectuals and commoners alike.
