On October 20, 2012, Canada Youth Group participated in a nation-wide fund-raising event. This was held at the famous CN Tower in Toronto, which is the tallest, free-standing structure in the Western hemisphere. This event was a climb to the top of CN Tower which entails climbing over 1,700 stairs to the main deck. CYG supported United Way Toronto and raised up to $1,000.

United Way is a charity that strives to create opportunities for positive community and individual growth nation-wide through programs and services such as support to the homeless, single parents, people with disabilities, Aboriginal people, and new immigrants. They also provide services such as employment and skills development, affordable housing and transportation, food access, and emergency shelter access.

CYG supported this under the Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (Canada) in order to facilitate and support this initiative. By participating in this event, we were able to spread the mission’s initiatives as well as supporting a nation-wide charity. Through Bapa’s deep compassion and empathy for others, we were able to open our eyes and hearts to this opportunity to positively impact our community whilst spreading Bapa’s mission of the Ten-Fold Care Initiative.

Nisha Shanghavi’s message said, “I'm stepping up to build a better city for all! Help me support United Way Toronto! Sponsor me and help support a network of community-based health and social service agencies located across our city. United Way Toronto mobilizes a broad range of resources to identify the issues facing our city. Your support also enables United Way Toronto to set priorities, address root causes of social problems and make positive and lasting change. Ultimately, our goal is to create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our city.”
