JainPedia

JAINpedia has a host of new features as it is now live and off beta status. An exciting development is a new mini-site called Learn Jainism. From lesson plans, 'How To' videos, games and puzzles a wealth of information has been developed to help teach Jainism to the younger audiences.

To amplify the multi-media site, the new features on JAINpedia  include an Interactive Timeline, and a site wide Image Gallery.

Interactive Timeline

Scroll along the timeline using either the main pane or the thinner summary pane below.

An icon by itself indicates an event. An icon with a line indicates that the event took place over a period of time. Click on the icon, event line or caption to see more details.

Note that the timeline is not at a constant scale. When events are close in time, they are spread out across a more detailed scale for easier viewing.

Whats New in JAINpedia Manuscripts?

Selections from some scattered folios held at the British Library have received their descriptions, transliterations and English translations.

The Fragments of Jain Manuscripts can be found under the shelfmark of Or. 13950 but are really pages from four different manuscripts. Begin exploring the differences and similarities of these different folios using the magnification tool and the page descriptions.
