- Augmentation- A kind of Karmakaraṇa (spiritual energy qua transformation of Karma); the increase in the sthiti (duration) and Anubhāga (intensity) of (the bound) Karma.

- The death of the Jīvas (souls) of the infernal beings and the Bhavanapati Devas (Mansion-dwelling gods);
after completing their life-span in the lower regions (of the cosmic space), these Jīvas emerge or take birth in the higher regions; hence, their death is called udvartana (lit. evolved).
