From 17th to 24th February 2007, Dr. S.C. Manchanda and Swami Dharmananda held a workshop in Rajkot, Gujarat, on the benefits of Preksha Meditation and reversal of heart disease.
Dr. S.C. Manchanda, Swami Dharmananda and Yoga instructor Mr. Ajay Sharma from Adhyatma Sadhana Kendra reached Rajkot on 17th February. In the evening, Dr. Manchanda gave lecture on heart disease and its reversal through Yoga lifestyle and Preksha Meditation by PowerPoint presentation.
Before the start of programme, Sri Chandrakant Bhai Koticha, executive trustee of Life NGO, gave a welcome address to and honoured the dignitaries on the dais by handing over hand spun raw cotton garlands to them. The lecture of Dr. Manchanda was well received and followed by question & answer session. After that, Swami Dharmananda introduced Preksha Meditation, which is according to him a panacea to all the physical, mental and emotional problems. He took the audience to the practical session of Kayotsarga & Perception of Deep Breathing, which was practiced well by almost all participants.
In the morning session of 18th February, Dr. Manchanda again spoke on heart problems. Dr. Goutam Dave and Dr. Kamal Parekh, both renowned Rajkot cardiologists, also gave lectures to enlighten the gathering about heart disease. Swami Dharmananda informed the audience about modern lifestyle resulting in stress and tension, which is the base of different psychosomatic diseases. Preksha Meditation is the yoga system developed on ancient wisdom combined with modern sciences like psychology and physiology, which can bring health and happiness if practiced regularly.
From 19th to 24th February the regular training workshop was conducted in the morning and evening from 6 to 8. In the morning session from 6 to 8 a.m. the techniques used for reversal of heart disease including H R E (health rejuvenating exercises), Asanas, Pranayama, Kayotsarga, and Perception of Deep Breathing meditation were taught.
In the evening session from 6 to 8 p.m. the lectures on anatomy & physiology were well received by the participants, Contemplation of Fearlessness, Forbearance, Transitoriness, Loneliness and reversal of heart disease were also taught. Some exercises of morning session were repeated in the evening session.
The six-days programme was well appreciated by the participants, which was indicated in their feedback to the workshop.
In the concluding ceremony the Add. Collector of Rajkot, Mrs. Kalapana Mehta who presided, Dr. Goutam Dave who was the chief speaker and executive trustee, Sri Chandrakant Koticha were on the dais. They offered a Shawl to Shri Dharmanandaji and Ajay Sharma. All the participants obtained a certificate of participation. Sri Abhishek, Sri Babulal and Dr. Nirja Chohan, Yoga instructors of Life NGO took pains to have the workshop for its great success.
