A Culture of Tolerance:A few people living in foreign countries came to me. I asked them if they do prayers every day. With great hesitation they said, "Despite our wishes, we are not allowed to do so. In the countries where we live, prayers from a different religion are forbidden. If we are caught doing that, it can result in severe penalties."
Perhaps people living in India cannot even imagine such strong and draconian measures. The culture in India has been one of accommodation and tolerance. India has always allowed visitors freedom of speech, and tolerated freedom of thoughts, but there are some countries and cultures where conflicting thoughts are not tolerated. Many foreign tribes like Dutch, Portuguese etc. came on this land and Indians never attacked or killed them but accommodated. Now, it appears that Indian culture and traditions as well are being influenced by other.
The only way to deal with this problem is to introduce the development of holistic personality as a part of the education system. Unless the education includes topics like generosity and tolerance, its utility and significance will not be meaningful.
