साधना और सेवा का पर्व चातुर्मास 20 जुलाई से शुरू
10 किलोमीटर के दायरे से बाहर नहीं जा सकेंगे
जैन समाज में चातुर्मास 20 जुलाई से प्रारंभ होगा। इस दौरान जैन साधु-साध्वी चार माह तक एक ही स्थान पर निवास कर आत्मसाधना करेंगे और करवाएंगे। प्रवचनों और त्याग-तपस्याओं का वातावरण बनेगा। जैन संतों के लिए यह आगमिक विधान है कि वे चातुर्मास काल में चार कोस अर्थात् शहर के प्राचीन चुंगी नाका की सीमा से 10 किलोमीटर के दायरे से बाहर नहीं जा सकेंगे। उल्लेखनीय है कि पक्खी पर्व होने के कारण चातुर्मास का शुभारंभ 20 जुलाई से है।
श्रमण डॉ पुष्पेंद्र ने बताया कि चातुर्मास के दौरान संस्कार, संस्कृति, सदाचार और संयम पालन पर विशेष ध्यान दिया जाता है। श्रद्धालुओं एवं अनुयायियों को व्रत नियमों पर चलने के लिए प्रेरित किया जाता है। चातुर्मास की उपयोगिता इसलिए अहम है कि इस दौरान संत लोगों को नियमित प्रवचन और प्रेरणा देते हैं। इतिहासविज्ञ डॉ. दिलीप धींग ने बताया कि विभिन्न आध्यात्मिक साधनाओं से व्यक्तित्व विकास एवं सामाजिक परिवर्तन की दृष्टि से चातुर्मास का विशेष महत्व है। चातुर्मास में जैन समाज में आश्चर्यजनक तपस्याएं की जाती हैं।
चातुर्मास के दौरान सादा व संतुलित भोजन किया जाता है
खाने में सादा भोजन, गरिष्ठ भोजन का त्याग किया जाता है। जमीकंद (आलू, प्याज, लहसुन, अदरक) का उपयोग नहीं करते। बीज, पंचमी, अष्टमी, एकादशी, चतुर्दशी तिथि पर श्रावक-श्राविका हरी सब्जी-फलों का पूर्ण त्याग करते हैं। अधिकतर तौर पर बाजार की वस्तुओं का भी त्याग होता है। एकासन: दिन में एक स्थान पर बैठकर एक बार भोजन करते हैं। उपवास: एक दिन उपवास के दौरान खाना नहीं खाते, सिर्फ गर्म पानी का उपयोग करते हैं। अगले दिन नवकारशी आने के बाद पारणा करते हैं। आयंबिल: नमक-मिर्च-हल्दी-घी-तेल-मिर्च मसाले रहित भोजन करते हैं।
चातुर्मास दौरान प्रमुख पर्व -
20 जुलाई को चातुर्मास प्रारंभ से लेकर जप, तप, त्याग, सामायिक, प्रतिक्रमण, संत दर्शन आदि के साथ ही श्रद्धालुओं का उत्साह चरम पर होता है। इसी क्रम में 21 जुलाई को गुरु पूर्णिमा पर्व मनाया जाएगा। श्वेतांबर समुदाय तीनांे घटक इस बार सामूहिक रूप से 1 सितंबर को पर्यूषण पर्व, 8 सितंबर को संवत्सरी महापर्व की आराधना करेगा व दिगंबर समुदाय के दस लक्षण पर्व का शुभारंभ 8 सितंबर को होगा जिसका समापन 17 सितंबर अनंत चतुर्दशी के रूप में होगा। 9 अक्टूबर को नवपद आयंबिल ओली पर्व, 1 नवंबर को तीर्थंकर भगवान महावीर 2551वां निर्वाण कल्याणक, 2 नवंबर को गणधर गौतम प्रतिपदा व वीर निर्वाण संवत् 2551वां शुभारंभ, 6 नवंबर ज्ञान पंचमी व 15 नवंबर को चातुर्मास पूर्णाहुति होगी। चातुर्मास के चार माह के दौरान समय समय पर अनेक सामाजिक, धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम, संतों की जयंतियां, पुण्यतिथियां आदि आयोजन होंगे।
देश में कुल 18 हजार से अधिक साधु-साध्वी
श्री वर्धमान स्थानकवासी जैन श्रमण संघ की वर्ष 2024 की जारी सूची अनुसार इस वर्ष श्रमण संघ साधुओं के कुल 84 चातुर्मास है एवं श्रमण संघीय साध्वियों के कुल 280 चातुर्मास है। इस प्रकार कुल मिलाकर श्रमण संघीय चतुर्थ आचार्य डॉ श्री शिव मुनि जी के दिशा निर्देश व आज्ञा से श्रमण संघ के 364 चातुर्मास है। वहीं श्रमण संघीय में साधुवृन्द की संख्या 221 और साध्वीवृन्दों की संख्या 960 है। पूरे भारत में जैन धर्म की चारों संप्रदायों, स्थानकवासी - पाँच हजार, मंदिरमार्गी - ग्यारह हजार, तेरापंथ आठ सो व दिगंबर समुदाय 1600 साधु-साध्वियों की गणना होती है जोकि कुल संख्या लगभग अठारह हजार के ऊपर है।

Chaturmas, the festival of worship and service, begins on July 20
Cannot go beyond 10 km radius
Chaturmas will start from July 20 in Jain society. During this period, Jain sadhus and sadhvis will stay at one place for four months and will do spiritual practice and will also make others do it. An atmosphere of discourses and sacrifice and penance will be created. It is an Aagamik Vidhaan for Jain saints that they will not be able to go beyond the radius of four kos i.e. 10 kilometers from the boundary of the ancient customs post of the city during the Chaturmas period. It is worth mentioning that due to Pakkhi festival, Chaturmas will start from July 20.
Shramana Dr. Pushpendra told that during Chaturmas, special attention is paid to rituals, culture, moral conduct and restraint. Devotees and followers are motivated to follow the fasting rules. The importance of Chaturmas is important because during this time saints regularly preach and inspire people. Historian Dr. Dilip Dhing told that Chaturmas has special importance from the point of view of personality development and social change through various spiritual practices. Amazing penances are performed in the Jain society during Chaturmas.
Simple and balanced food is consumed during Chaturmas
Simple food is eaten and heavy food is avoided. Potatoes, onion, garlic, ginger are not used. On Bija, Panchami, Ashtami, Ekadashi, Chaturdashi dates, Shravaks and Shravikaas completely avoid green vegetables and fruits. Mostly, market items are also avoided. Ekaasan: Eat once a day sitting at one place. Fasting: Do not eat food during fasting for a day, only use hot water. Next day, after Navkarshi, do Parna. Ayambil: Eat food without salt-pepper-turmeric-ghee-oil-pepper and spices.
Major festivals during Chaturmas -
From the beginning of Chaturmas on 20th July, the enthusiasm of the devotees is at its peak with chanting, penance, sacrifice, Samayik, Pratikraman, Sant Darshan etc. In the same sequence, Guru Purnima festival will be celebrated on 21st July. This time, all three components of the Shvetambara community will collectively worship Paryushan festival on 1st September, Samvatsari Mahaparva on 8th September and the Ten Lakshan festival of the Digambar community will be started on 8th September, which will conclude on 17th September as Anant Chaturdashi. Navpad Ayimbil Oli festival will be celebrated on 9th October, Tirthankara Bhagwan Mahavir's 2551st Nirvana Kalyanak on 1st November, Ganadhar Gautam Pratipada and Veer Nirvana Samvat 2551st commencement on 2nd November, Gyan Panchami on 6th November and Chaturmas Purnahuti on 15th November. During the four months of Chaturmas, many social, religious, cultural programs, birth anniversaries of saints, death anniversaries etc. will be organized from time to time.
There are more than 18 thousand sadhus and sadhvis in the country
According to the list released by Shri Vardhman Sthanakavasi Jain Shramana Sangh for the year 2024, this year there are a total of 84 Chaturmas of Shramana Sangh sadhus and a total of 280 Chaturmas of Shramana Sangh nuns. Thus, in total, there are 364 Chaturmas of Shramana Sangh as per the directions and orders of Shramana Sangh fourth Acharya Dr. Shri Shiv Muni Ji. At the same time, the number of sadhus in Shramana Sangh is 221 and the number of nuns is 960. In the whole of India, the four sects of Jainism, Sthanakavasi - five thousand, Mandir Marg - eleven thousand, Terapanth eight hundred and Digambar community count 1600 sadhus and nuns, which is a total of more than eighteen thousand.
