Paryushan 2007 Celebrations
Day 7
Dhyan Diwas
15.09.2007
The seventh day of the Festival of Amity & Peace was observed as the Dhyan Diwas (meditation day). Sadhavishree Nirvanshreeji graced the occasion by saying that the Paryusan Mahaparva helps bring a new recourse in our life. She said that it is essential for one to be acquainted with its own soul. This acquaintance is possible only through meditation or dhyana. The element “Truth” in its true meaning can be better understood by one whose heart is pure. Meditation is one of the most important medium through which “truth” can be known. Sadhavishreeji said that as by opening the doors & windows our rooms lighten up, similarly our inner-self lightens up by meditation.
The human heart is full if desires, he wants to have everything which he sees & failure to achieve even one desire leads him to stress & tension. Tension acquires three forms: Bodily tension, Mental tension & Emotional tension. In order to live a stress–free life one should understand the importance of meditation, which has become a need of the hour in today’s life when everybody is entangled in the web of work & competition. The importance of meditation will be better understood by the following lines:
Practice Dhyana-yoga,
And Preksha - Anupreksha
Would be a prelude
To new beginning of life
New assurance
New faith
New aspiration
Beyond the limits
Of Body & Mind.
Sadhavishreeji further said that meditation today is not just restricted to monks & nuns but is useful to the entire human clan, irrespective of caste & creed.
