International I.O.J Ahimsa Award for 2008 will be given to Ahimsa Yatra Originator H.H. Acharya Mahapragya. Every year Institute of Jainology, London honored an extra ordinary personality who has contributed to the Non-Violence through constructive works, writings and by other means of promotion.
Chief Secretary of IOJ Shri Harshad Sangrajaka told this decision of Board of Governors of organization and said that earlier this award was given to Ex President of South Africa Mr. Nelson Mandela & Buddhist Guru Shri Dalai Lama.
The Ahimsa Day celebration will be held on 15 October at House of Commons, London where this award will be accepted by the representative of Acharya Mahapragya. On this occasion, the main speaker will be Chairman of Conservative Friends of India Shailesh Vara M.P., Chairman of Labor Friends of India Beri Gardinier M.P. and Chairman of Liberal Democrat Friends of India Lord Dholakia of Veltheim Bruks.
