A Short History Of The Terapanthi Sect Of The Swetamber Jains And Its Tenets: 03.2 Short Accounts Of Notable Fastings

Published: 04.09.2010

Two other Sadhus also took a similar vow of six months continuous fasting. They were Sadhuji Vardhamanji Maharaj, who passed his next Chaturmasa at Kelwa, and Sadhuji Hiralalji Maharaj who passed his next Chaturmasa at Rajnagar.

The description of these thrilling and austere fasts may throw some light on the austerities of the Jain Sadhus and their utter disregard for worldly pleasures. Ordinary human beings, who take three meals a day, cannot even imagine how a man could live after such long fasts.
