2012 Karuna's Mewar Tour

The time to prepare my Mewar Tour was rather short because between 6th and 8th January only I made up my mind to travel for Guru Darshan at the occasion of Maryada Mahotsav to India. I booked my flight on 9th January. So there was not much time left to prepare the trip. With the help of HERENOW4U, JAINHERITAGECENTRES, Wikipedia, my husband’s, Christian Jain Geerdes and Patrick Krueger's advice, as well as Google Maps I came across quite well. I do not remember which information directed my mind towards Delwara, but somewhere the information was given that the Delwara Temple was role model for Mount Abu Dilwara Temple. That’s why I decided to visit Delwara Temple before going to Mount Abu.

Mr. Prakash Jain manager of Delwara Old Adinath Temple was so kind to take us around. I do not know what I had expected, but such a beauty in such serene atmosphere was rather overwhelming. The dignity of the statues, the atmosphere full of reverence and devotion made this visit an unforgettable one. Mr. Prakash Jain admitted to take few photos when he heard that this would be for Freie Universität Berlin, Center for Jaina Studies. Thank you so much for this afternoon with Adinath and his divine company, Mr. Prakash.

After this, Mr. Prakash had another surprise for us. He directed us directly to the New Mahavir Temple under construction. Its solemn finalization is foreseen end of 2013, in about two years.

Thereafter, we strolled along the lanes of Delwara, and came across the house where the contact number of Mr. Prakash was given for those interested in the Adinath Temple. I do not know what I had expected, but it is certain that without my two “Indian sons” I never had succeeded in visiting any of the temples! Thank you so much for nice company, Mr. Jagdish and Mr. Manish!
