When I began to occupy myself with the Indian religions, it was the religion of the Jains which, particularly, made a profound impression on me by its connecting men in a direct manner with the moral law that lives in our mind and is recognised as the only divine element.
I was happy to be allowed to attend some religious meetings of the Jains and to learn that morality is of highest importance to them. They teach us not to be listeners only but doers, active human beings, which means that every divine service must end in an inner vow.
Acharyashree Tulsi appeared to me as a specially outstanding personality due to his attempt to induce not only the adherents of his own religious group but also everybody else to live according to moral principles.
I hope and pray with all my heart that he succeeds in reaching this high aim of which I am convinced that it will serve the welfare not only of India but of mankind as a whole.
