“Freedom is my Birthdom”
Lokamanya Tilak had asserted - ““Freedom is my Birthdom”. Here the ‘freedom’ is in context of “Motherland”.
In Jain Darshan, it is asserted - “Freedom is my birthdom.” Here ‘freedom’ is in context of ‘Soul’.
In canons of Patriotism, one is allowed to sacrifice his life for the sake of freedom of motherland.
In canons of Spiritualism (Adhyatma), one is allowed to sacrifice his life for the sake of freedom of soul.
In canons of Justice, the dictum of canons of Patriotism is above the Law; the constitution basically accepts it.
Then, why in canons of Justice, the dictum of canons of Spiritualism be not considered above the Law? The constitution basically accepts it.
In canons of Patriotism, if a freedom-fighter or a soldier serving his nation or any citizen, has to commit suicide in the interests of the Nation’s good, he is not only allowed to do so but also he is glorified as a martyr or shahid who sacrifices his life for the Motherland. The canons of Justice also approve of this action.
In canons of Spiritualism, if a spiritual sadhaka has to undertake fast-unto-death or even end life (as, for example, to keep intact his/her celibacy (chastity) (brahmacharya), in the interests of spiritual good which is, in fact, above all ‘goods’ or is considered to be the ‘total good’, he is not only advised to do so, but also he is glorified as a spiritual hero who, transcending all the barriers of attachment, aversion or passions and delusion, created by the karma which is the enemy of his soul, has bravely gave up his life for the soul’s highest good or for the ultimate aim or purpose of life. This is possible only in human life (or exceptionally even by an animal endowed with “clairvoyant intuition” or extra-sensory-perception), but not in celestial or infernal life.
Why, then, the canons of Justice should not approve of this noblest act?
On the other hand, if anyone, in name of canons of Justice, Law or Constitution, hinders it or dubs it as a crime punishable according to Law, then how such verdict can be “respected”?
Does it not amount to autocratic atrocity or a sheer ignorance of canons of Justice or an utter injustice?
Samlekhana or Santhara is a 100% spiritual act undertaken not for “dying”, but for spiritual good in conformity with the canons of Spiritualism.
I appeal to those who are Fathers of Canons of Justice to ponder over the issue in the light of what is written here.
