The camp took place last week, on June 5th 2004. It was featured by a special guest, the world-renowned cardiologist Professor Dr. S.C. Manchanda, from New Delhi, India, who was the head of the department of cardiology at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medicine). Professor Manchanda is an authority in the subject. At the Adhyatma Sadhana Kendra in New Delhi the research study of controlling and reversing heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure through the practice of Preksha Meditation was realized under his guidance.
The camp at the American Legion Hall in New Jersey was attended by over 100 people, members and guests. The program started with Mangal Bhavana chant led by Samani Mangal Pragyaji and Samani Amit Pragyaji. Thereafter, Samani Mangal Pragyaji presented a brief introduction of Preksha Meditation and its role in physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Dr. Manchanda discussed the increased incidence of coronary heart disease among the people from the Indian subcontinent and the underlying risk factors. He stressed that a lifestyle including a low fat vegetarian diet, the practice of Preksha Yoga, Pranayama and Preksha Meditation not only thwarts the progress of CHD but also leads to its reversal. He then shared data from his scientific research that have conclusively proven the above theory. Dr. Manchanda’s presentation was followed by a discussion.
