Light To Lamp Lights: 24 ►The Break-up of a Family

Whenever a political, social, religious or family organisation breaks down; it has its impact not only on the whole country but also the world. This is not something that can be understood by taking a superficial view of it. But those who have knowledge about ecology know that no matter a particular incident takes place, its vibrations spread far and wide. When any cracks develop in an organisation which enjoys wide influence in the country, it leads to considerable upheaval. Probably such an ominous star has risen in the political firmament of India which is pushing the political parties towards the precipice of charged and counter charges and a breakdown.

I am a man. If I go a step further, I can say that I am a man of religion. I have no affiliation with any political party. But I am affected whenever there in turmoil in any political party. If that turns out to be a raging turmoil, I even become restless at times. Becoming restless does not mean that I align myself with the ruling party or opposition. Being restless only means in such a situation that I do not remain neutral but I interfere in order to bring back normalcy. I do not know how the political leaders or the persons concerned interpret it. I express my view with sole intention that the picture of the national character remains clean and without any blemish.

For some time past, the Congress, which is the oldest party of the country, is becoming a victim of in-fighting. Such a situation has not arisen for the first time. For some reasons, many of its senior leaders have either left the party or have been expelled. It has been said that they have formed alliances with the disgruntled people. This word 'disgruntled' also needs to be criticised. There can be differences among the members belonging to the same party. But who is going to benefit by indulging in mutual incriminations? It seems that the people involved in these feuds think more from their personal points of view than the national scene. Otherwise, how would the people belonging to the same organisation be so entangled in the mudslinging?

We may find gentle and genuine people in the Congress even today. But who would listen to them in the atmosphere, when almost all are adamant about their own views? That is why from some quarters, there is a demand for the resignation of the Prime Minister and in some quarters there is an opposition to the politics for gaining power in the interest of unity. In a parliamentary system, different political parties play the roles of ruling and opposition parties. But when there are dissensions within the same party, the saying 'ruining home and inviting public ridicule', is proved right. How can any true Congressman bear to see these internal dissensions?

After the father's death in a family, the division of the land, property and household items took place. Everything was done very smoothly and lovingly. But the two brothers stuck to their respective claim on a full-size mirror in the house. How could both the brothers get the same mirror? Both the brothers were so determined to have the mirror that the matter reached the point of a showdown. Just at that moment their father's friend, who was also an old accountant appeared on the scene. He was urged to take the responsibility to work out a compromise. He picked up the mirror, raised it high and then dropped it down with a thud. Both the brothers were speechless. After a couple of minutes they said, "What have you done? Such an expensive mirror is broken. Their father's friend said, "I can see the mirror breaking but I cannot see this family breaking." If only the Congressmen would also learn this lesson.
