Jain Alert Group Paryushan Tiffin Service

Pranam!

Once again this year, Jain Alert Group of Michigan is planning to provide tiffins during all 8 days of Paryushan! Due to logistical limitations, we will only be able to provide tiffins to those living/working in Ann Arbor and Dearborn. If you would like tiffins on any of the 8 days, please sign up on the form below. A few guidelines to keep in mind:

1. We will be dropping tiffins off to a central location near you, not necessarily directly to you. This means that you might have to pick up your tiffin from somewhere other than your apartment.
2. If you fail to pick up your tiffin on any given day, we will cancel your tiffin for all remaining days. Leaving food overnight makes it vaasi and we cannot allow that especially during Paryushan.
3. If you feel you won't be able to pick up on a specific day even though you signed up, let us know latest by the night before.
4. If you have any other restrictions, please let us know and we will try to accommodate them.
5. By filling out this form, you are committing to being responsive to messages and questions. If you sign up but do not reply to our messages of confirmation, we will cancel your order.

Registration: https://forms.gle/R7o7sPFfZMYhD6a17
Please spread this message to any students or young professionals you know who live in Ann Arbor or Dearborn!

JSGD Panch Tirth Yatra Summary

Pranam,

JSGD yatra committee organized a Chaitya Pari Pati during the weekend of August 19 and 20.

With Shashandev’s blessings, enthusiastic support of many JSGD volunteers and EC/BOT and warm receptions from host sangh's, 53 yatris – in one bus - ranging in age from 4 to 87 years of age, successfully completed the Panch tirth yatra with good shata and in good health. The yatris visited following Jain Center during the yatra:

  • Hindu (Jain) Temple of Toledo; Ohio
  • Cincinnati and Dayton Jain Center - Cincinnati; Ohio
  • Jain Center of Central Ohio - Columbus; Ohio
  • Jain Center of Greater Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio

At each location we were pleasantly greeted by Jain Sangh's with music; songs and Sangh Pujan. At each location; we did darshan, Chaityavandan, recited a few Bhakti songs and did Aarti / Mangal Divo. In addition we did Snatra Puja at Columbus Sangh.

We had a delicious lunch at Toledo and Columbus Temples and dinner at Cincinnati and Cleveland Temples served by their volunteer members.

During this journey of Ohio Temples; we did enjoy meeting many of our Sadharmik brothers and sisters. It was a great experience and we all enjoyed and learned from each-other many useful tips to follow Jainism in our lives.

Throughout the yatra, we spent many hours on the bus. A great deal of the time in the bus was devoted to a variety of Jainism activities including:

  • Q&A about Jain topics
  • Bhakti songs
  • Sharing of the Jain Knowledge and philosophy
  • Sharing of the memories and experiences of the members who were active in the building of the temple and pratishtha

Many of the yatris had come prepared with material necessary to help yatris learn while having fun. Yatra organizers greatly appreciate their efforts and dedication. Plenty of snacks and refreshments were available throughout the yatra to keep everyone nourished and energized.

This was one of the most memorable JSGD yatras and we look forward to many more such experiences. We did miss Varshaben and Vastupalbhai (our past Leaders) who moved to Chicago and could not join this yatra.

Thanks and Jai Jinendra!
