The International Mahavir Jain Mission of Birmingham U.K. held its first conference on Jainism on 13th march 2004 for the Interfaith Group of Birmingham. This conference was organised by Arvinder Jain at the request of Dr. Chris Hewer, who is adviser to the Bishop of Birmingham. The conference was conducted with the blessings and the guidance of Samani Pratibha Pragyaji and Samani Punya Pragyaji. The conference was attended by people from Europe, America of various religious groups. Samani Pratibhaji covered the following topics:
- Historical background of Jainism
- Lord Mahavira, Jainism after Lord Mahavira
- Philosophy of Jainism
- Jain Prayers
- Yoga, meditation, preksha dhyan
- Life of monks and laymen including diet and fasting
- Jain festivals
People asked many questions on Jainism which were answered by Samani Pratibhaji who made everybody feel very comfortable with the subject. Everybody enjoyed the day and passed very positive comments on the way it was conducted by Samani Pratibha Pragyaji.
All participants enjoyed the Bhajans delivered by Samani Punya Pragyaji.
Thanks were addressed to His Holiness Acharya Mahapragyaji for sending the Samanijis to England, making it possible for two of them to come to Birmingham without disrupting their heavy scheduled programme in London.
