Samani Prasanna Pragya and Samani Manan Pragya had a short visit of 5 days to Manchester on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
On the very beginning day of their visit i.e.on 29th March, a session of Meditation and Pravachan was held in the Jain Community Centre. Samani Prasanna Pragya made an excellent performance explaining the application of non-violence in practical life. She explained the difference between Anuvrat and Mahavrat and focused our attention towards the ways of minimising violence. The session concluded with a short meditation.
On the 30th March, there was a complete session of meditation. Samaniji explained to us about the key to achieve happiness i.e. Preksha meditation. The DVD presentation was made on Preksha meditation which gave us a new path to go deep into our inner self.
On 31st March, Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated in a large gathering at Manchester’s Jain Community Centre. The celebration started with meditation followed by various kinds of programmes. The children performed an excellent play, which was commenced by Lord Mahavir’s Janam Kalyanak. Through the play the children gave us many new information regarding Lord’s unordinary characteristics. Children’s performance was entertainable and knowledgeable hidden with many messages.
Samani Prasanna Pragya started her talk by instilling awareness towards the duty of Jain Shravak. She explained the principles of Lord Mahavir i.e. Non-violence, non-possession, non-absolutism, equanimity, harmony etc. and said that the main principle of Mahavir is equanimity of the feeling of equanimity instils in every person than the other principles will evolve itself in the society. She explained the relevance of Mahavir’s principles in the present life and said that the celebration of Mahavir Jayanti once a year is not enough. Mahavir and his principles should be remembered and practised everyday. We should make our best efforts to spread his principles, only then the celebration will be worthwhile.
On this occasion many Bhajans were sang. Samaniji did Mahavir Vaachan on Janam Kalyanak.
During these 5 days stay Yoga, Pranayam, Mediation, Spiritual discussion-classes were regularly held.
