Sanskrit: measure

Valid cognition; by which the entity is cognised fully,

that is, as free from perversion and the like; it is the valid organ of knowledge which reveals itself and others and is free from contradiction. In Jain Logic, pramāṇa, naya, nikṣepa etc. are considered as the means through which the truth or the reals can be understood.

It encompasses one or more reliable and valid means by which human beings gain accurate true knowledge.

A limb of logic (nyāya); that valid cognition, which is without doubt and contradiction.
