About:

Eagle Solace Charity Organisation, opened in January of 2002 and incorporated in 2009, provides long-term rehabilitative care to orphaned individuals with disabilities or mental illness who have outgrown the orphanages. Eagle Solace Charity Organisation is operated by the e-solace nonprofit Foundation and supported by African nonprofit, Friends of e-solace, Inc. We are organized around specific issues, such as human rights, environment or health, and also provide analysis and expertise, serve as early warning mechanisms and help monitor and implement international policies.

In African Nations, having a disability was deeply shameful for the individual and their family. The tendency during these years was to send this vulnerable population to an institution (either an orphanage or psychiatric hospital) where they would be “out of sight”. As a result, Afica’s population with special needs still struggle to recover a sense of value and dignity and are more often than not, placed in institutions that can not properly care for them.

After more than seven years of work across the developing world, Eagle Solace Charity Organisation understands that poor people in every country have skills and initiative that they want to use to lift their families out of poverty. Instead of a handout in the form of aid, many thousands of poor clients have received a hand up through training and small business loans. e-solace.org is also concerned with community development and equity issues. It promotes principles of empowerment, partnership, diversity, openness, consultation, effectiveness and community building. Our mission is to enable the poor, especially the poorest, to create a world without poverty. e-solace.org strategy seeks to strengthen the standard of living and to design and enhance interventions that improve people’s access to food through their active participation.
