Report On Career Counseling Workshop Of Terapanth Professional Forum (TPF) - Kolkata Branch
10th April 2011 At Mahasabha Bhavan, KolkataThe one day Free Career Counselling Workshop of TPF Kolkata Branch was held on 10th April 2011 at Mahasabha Bhavan, Kolkata with participation of nearly 150 Terapanthi students of class nine onwards to Graduates from eminent schools and colleges.
The base line of the Workshop was to help prospective generation to understand their hidden talent in a scientific way via psychological tests, interactive counselling by experts, an open round of questioning and expert advises from well known professionals of various fields.
The workshop began with the holy chanting of Namaskar Mahamantra by all present. The Program was very well anchored jointly by Ms. Yogina Kochar, Jt. Secretary-TPF Kolkata and Sri Gautam Dugar.
Shri Prakash Chand Maloo, President-TPF Kolkata Branch welcomed all guests & participants and emphasized upon the need and importance of such Career Counselling Programs among the students. He also said that the youth is full of talent. If the talent is harnessed properly, it will not be lost in oblivion.Shri Sushil Choraria, National Jt. Secretary and National Convenor said that for the guidance of children such events should be organised regularly. Such events prove useful for the basic humane value foundation of any child. He also informed that such Workshops are also being organised at other TPF branches across the country. He also read out the Holy blessings and Message of Acharya Shri Mahashramanji and Mangal Bhavna Message of Munisri Rajneesh Kumarji. The message was on enforcing the moral development in student life and also the members of the Forum were appreciated for their contribution.
Shri N.K.Shyamsukha, National President-TPF briefed the participants about how such events help them in shaping up their career and said that if the students get right direction in the right time, it will be a boost to their confidence.. Shri Prakash Baid, National Vice President also highlighted the objectives and importance of such programs and also TPF’s workings all over the country.
The Inaugural Function was also graced by the eminent personalities of Terapanth Samaj including Sri Surendra Kr. Choraria (President - Jain Viswa Bharati); Sri Surendra Kr. Dugar (Managing Trustee - Jai Tulsi Foundation); Sri Bhikam Chand Pugalia (President - Sri Jain Swetamber Terapanthi Vidyalaya Society); Smt Kalpana Baid (Vice President - Akhil Bhartiya Mahila Mandal); Shri Karan Singh Nahata (President - JST Sabha, Kolkata). In their speeches, they also complemented TPF Kolkata for organizing such an event for the first time in Kolkata.
The workshop was well conducted by renowned career counsellor Sri Jai Shankar G., a post graduate from IIM, Kolkata and a certified quality facilitator from Philip Crosby Quality Institute. Choosing the field according to one’s interest and capability and then pursuing the same with conviction leads to success that is what Mr. Jaishankar had to say to the gathering. He also gave the formula for success. By illustrating live cases and thought provoking deliberations, he made the atmosphere extremely electrifying and involved each and every participant to understand and realise their inherent strengths to opt their best suited career prospects.
Sri Prakash Nahata, well known Career Counsellor and Head, TPF National Career Counselling Committee, made excellent Presentation on the concept of Career Counselling and the method of Psychometric Tests to know one’s own interest and skill and how to select best suitable career among various options available today. With the help of power point presentation he explained how students can achieve their objective of being successful.
As an important and decisive part of the workshop, all the participants appeared for Guilford-Zimmerman Interest Inventory and New PI psychological tests in four different class rooms. The Tests were self scored by the participants under the guidance of Shri Jaishankar and Shri Prakash Nahata.
Another important part of the workshop was the Interactive Counselling Session held under the penal comprising Sri H.M. Choraria, past president of ICSI; Sri Somnath Dasgupta, faculty of various MBA Institutes; Dr. Ritesh Pandey, Sri Jai Shankar G., Sri Prakash Nahata; Sri Narendra Shyamsukha and Sri Prakash Baid. The aim was to have a free and frank discussion with the participants and for resolving their doubts and queries on career and future prospects in light of the results obtained in the psychometric tests. This Session was very effectively handled by eminent panelist speakers and they suggested new avenues, right perception and the various ways to know one’s true talent.
In the inaugural sessions Mementos were presented to Shri Jaishankar and Shri Prakash Nahata by Shri Dilip Maroti, Vice President TPF Kolkata and Shri Ashok Parakh respectively. Mementos were also presented in the closing session of the workshop to Guest Career Counsellors as a mark of gratitude for their valuable time.
Vote of thanks at the Inaugural Function was delivered by Sri Prem Kumar Bafana, Convenor of Kolkata Career Counselling Workshop and Vice President, TPF Kolkata.
In the closing session of the workshop Sri Hemant Kothari also shared his views and Sri Rajesh Ghorawat presented vote of thanks on behalf of entire TPF Team.
The program was convened by Sri Prem Kumar Bafana, Vice President-TPF Kolkata along with co-conveners Ms Yogina Kochar, Jt Secretary-TPF Kolkata, Sri Gautam Dugar, Sri Rajesh Ghorawat, Sri Hemant Kothari and with the immense support of Sri Vikram Chandalia, Secretary-TPF Kolkata.
Smt. Nita Nahata, Sri Maan Vardhan Baid, Sri Prateek Maloo, Ms Kriti Kochar and entire Working Committee team of TPF Kolkata had very active role in making the Workshop a success.
The workshop received huge appreciation from the parents present and the participating students who urged on having such events at regular basis. The effort of entire TPF Team was applauded by all the present.
