JVBNJ Gyanshala Registration Form Supplement - 2011-12

Welcome to the eighth year of JVBNJ Gyanshala - the 2011-2012 Session! Through the instruction of Jainism and Science of Living, JVBNJ Gyanshala strives to impart to its students, life skills for physical, mental and emotional health, a stress free and peaceful life, and spiritual bliss. It also strives to inculcate life values in children that help them grow into responsible adults, who respect and care for their fellow living beings and the environment, who tolerate other religious beliefs and have empathy for others.

With the blessings of H.H. Acharyashri Mahashraman, and under the guidance of Samanijis, Gyanshala will commence this year on Sunday, October 2, 2011 and will run until Sunday, May 20, 2012. Gyanshala Annual Day is being planned for Sunday, June 3, 2012. Classes will be held twice every month on Sunday afternoons from 3:30pm-6pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 1295 Oak Tree Road, Iselin, NJ 08830. Each two and half hour class will include four mandatory subsections - Prayer Assembly, Jainism, Science of Living, and Hindi/Gujrati Language. On the third Sunday of the month, the children will be required to attend a Satsang program that would include an assembly and a parallel session for children including rehearsals for stage shows, and art & craft activities. Classes will be taught by Samanijis, volunteer teachers and guests. A detailed calendar and curriculum shall be made available in October 2011. The age of children for Gyanshala is 4-14. Children who complete 4 years of age on Oct 30, 2011 may apply for enrollment. After enrollment, all students will be placed in one of three groups based on their school grade level:

    1. Gyan group (Grades PK4-2)
    2. Darshan group (Grades 3-5)
    3. Charitra group (Grades 6 & up

Please fill out the attached registration form and enclose the annual registration fee of $150 in the form of a check payable to JVBNA and mail it to the JVBNA center. Please write your child’s name and ‘Gyanshala’ on your check. All returning students also need to fill out the registration form and pay the registration fees. Please register by September 30, 2011 to avoid late fees. Registrations received in October will be assessed a late fee of $50. Also, after September 30, enrollment cannot be guaranteed. The annual registration fee covers registration and tuition for the entire year. All new students will also receive Gyanshala t-shirts and diaries. In addition, new students, and returning students entering new levels, will receive new Jainism books and diaries. Students will be required to purchase Hindi/Gujarati Language Books when the books arrive from India. All returning students, if they desire, may purchase new t-shirts for $15 each and new Jainism books for $20 each.

To ensure a positive learning experience for all, students will be expected to follow Gyanshala rules and be respectful to Samanijis, teachers and fellow students. Students must be punctual, arriving at least 5 minutes before the start of assembly. The attendance will be taken during the assembly. Parents will not be allowed to stay in the Gyanshala when classes are in session. Parents must drop off their children quickly and must pick them up personally. Students should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner when in Gyanshala and must dress appropriately for the classes. Yellow Gyanshala t-shirts and long comfortable track pants must be worn for all classes. Students must maintain good attendance and take the annual exam to receive a certificate of completion at the end of the Gyanshala year.
