Report On Cancer Awareness Workshop “All About Cancer” Of Terapanth Professional Forum (TPF) - Faridabad Branch Organised On 28th August, 2011 
TPF, Faridabad has successfully organised a workshop on cancer awareness -“All About Cancer” on 28-08-2011 at Terapanth Bhawan at 11 am in the pious presence of Mumukshu Sisters - Parimal, Khushboo, Prakash and Pooja J, among an audience comprising of nearly 200 people.
The guest speaker for the Programme were Dr Rajesh Jain M.B.B.S, M.S. (General surgery), D.N.B. (Surgical Oncology) and Dr Naveen Sancheti - M.B.B.S. M.S. (Oncology)
The Programme began with a Manglacharan by Shri Bahadur Singh Dugar followed by the welcome speech by Mr. Vijay Nahata, President of TPF Faridabad Branch, who welcomed the audience and all the dignitaries in the programme on the auspicious occasion of Paryushan Festival. He talked about the main objectives and future plans of TPF and encouraged the professionals and students to join the Forum.
Mumukshu Sisters addressed the gathering saying that this is the occasion of Paryushan. Paryushan is the time for introspection and paves way for one’s journey inside. The way we are alert about prevention and cure of diseases affecting our body, we must be ever alert to keep our soul protected from the dirt of karmic bondage and evils. We must protect the soul from the four greatest evils - Anger, Pride, Deceit, and Greed. Today is Samayik Diwas and Samayik is the practice of attaining equanimity, which brings peace and balance in life. If we adopt the Jain Jiwan Shaili (Jain way of Life) propagated by Acharya Shri Tulsi, we can lead a healthy life.
Mrs Jaya Rakhecha, President - TPF North Zone, enlightened the gathering by a speech wherein she shared the knowledge all about the North Zone projects. This made way for the actual programme to begin which was conducted lucidly by Mr. Manak Lal Bhansali.
Dr. Rajesh and Dr. Naveen dealt with the sensitive issue of educating the masses about the origin, types, causes and spread of cancer. Cancer is the uninterrupted growth of cancerous cells in a specific body part and maybe of two main types-solid and liquid, depending upon the organs affected. The major causes include the intake of
- Tobacco
- Alcohol
- Nicotine
- Unhealthy life style
- Bad food habits
- Others
All of these can be prevented. He laid special emphasis on cervical and breast cancer, as they are the two most commonly occurring ones and are surrounded by a plethora of social taboos. He rightly said that, “Knowing about cancer is preventing cancer”. He demonstrated the stepwise procedure of its occurrence and also talked about the various symptoms and prevention measures.
Then the session was opened for discussion which involved an active participation from all the people present. Dr. Rajesh and Dr. Naveen answered various questions put up by the audience and appreciated their knowledge about the issue.
At the end, the session concluded by Dr. Rajesh summarising the whole discussion in a nutshell which was followed by a vote of thanks from Mr. Nayan Prakash Bhansali, Secretary TPF Faridabad and felicitation of the two speakers by presenting of mementoes by T.M. Lalani.
