Speaking at a function held at the residence of AICC president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi on occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, she said, bhagwan mahavir immortal teaching of live and let live is as relevant today as it was about 2606 years ago. On this occasion she met with some representative of Jain community from all over country in the leadership of Sukhi Parivar foundation and Sh. Lalit Jain, Ex. MP.

Sonia Gandhi said, we want peace and harmony because there is no alternative to it. In the age of nuclear bomb, communal violence and terrorism there is no way to resolve problems other than through peaceful and non-violence means. She said people need to adopt the golden principal of non-violence, anekanta, world peace, brotherhood and communal harmony that was proposed by mahavir.

She launched the mahavir jayanti special issue of shri vijay inder times and said we need to implement the philosophy of mahavir in practical life, not in thoughts. She also launched three books written by gani rajender vijay named: a home in harmony, yog ke vyavaharic safal pryog and varsitap and tapasvi samrat. In this function Amitrai Jain India President(Youth) of World Religion Parliament, Manish Jain President Sukhi Parivar Foundation, Lalit Garg Editor in Chief Shri Vijay Inder Times, Gyan Chand Jain - Delhi Head of Rajasthan Patrika, Swati Jain and Astha Jain the disciples of Gyanmati Mataji, Prakash Jain, Vishal Jain-Meerut and others were introduced and highlighted the principle of Mahavir.
